DOTHAN, Ala. - A data breach in its education software may affect “sensitive personal information,” Dothan City Schools announced Wednesday. The school system said that PowerSchool, an education software provider that DCS uses to maintain its student information system, identified unauthorized access to “certain customer information” through its portal on December 28.
The cybersecurity incident was contained, according to the company, and there is no further evidence of ongoing unauthorized activity or operational disruptions.PowerSchool implemented enhanced security measures, deactivated compromised credentials, and has offered credit monitoring and identity protection services for certain impacted individuals.
