That’s an increase of 1.7 million people compared to last year and 2 million more than in 2019. Air travel is expected to set a new record with 5.84 million people expected to fly this holiday. That’s an increase of 2% compared to last year and a nearly 11% increase over 2019. Most Thanksgiving travelers will drive to their destinations. AAA projects a record 71.7 million people will travel by car over Thanksgiving. That’s 1.3 million more people on the road than last year, and surpasses pre-pandemic numbers when 70.6 million people drove 50 miles or more in 2019. This may have something to do with gas prices, which are lower this year than last year. The average price in many states is below $3 a gallon for the first time since 2021. Thanksgiving dinner will also cost you less this year. The price to feed ten people this Thanksgiving costs an average of $58.08, according to the American Farm Bureau Federation.
