This week, the FBI, Homeland Security, and the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office swiftly took action. Two agents were spotted escorting an undocumented immigrant, with his hands cuffed behind his back, through the Jubilee Farms neighborhood in Daphne. Michael Veldman, a resident of the neighborhood, noticed a significant amount of construction in the area and became curious when law enforcement officers appeared at the construction sites .
'I decided to walk down to the construction site, and I saw about 15 ATF agents,' Veldman said. 'I had run into another neighbor walking through there, and that neighbor had told me that they had apprehended 15 immigrants from both construction sites in this neighborhood.' Signs throughout the neighborhood indicate that this development is by D.R. Horton, a prominent home construction company. Law enforcement sources revealed to FOX10 News that undocumented immigrants were also arrested in the Stonebridge neighborhood in Spanish Fort, another development by D.R. Horton. The Immigration Reform and Control Act prohibits employers from knowingly hiring, recruiting, or referring undocumented immigrants. Violators could face severe penalties, including hefty fines and up to six months in prison. FOX10 News inquired with the Special Agent in Charge of the Mobile FBI Office about the potential repercussions for any individuals or entities besides the undocumented immigrants. 'Yeah, I don’t want to get into specifics about the business consequences,' Parker Still stated. 'You know, other than like I said earlier, these are enforcement actions that the FBI, along with our partners, specifically Homeland Security Investigations, HSI as well as Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department were involved with.'
