The Spurs' chief impact officer is selling her home in San Antonio's Lone Star District. Here's a look inside.
Kara Allen , chief impact officer for the San Antonio Spurs , is selling her $1.2 million Southtown abode. Constructed in the 1920s, this historic Alamo City home at 204 Clay Street was restored and renovated in the early 2000s by local architect and former University of Texas at San Antonio professor, Dan Gonzalez , according to the Phyllis Browning Company , the real estate agency listing the property.
By using most of the home's original construction materials in his renovations, Gonzales was able to preserve and extend the home's structural integrity. In addition to those renovations, Gonzalez built an entirely new structure to the property — a two-story metal tower with three beds and two and a half baths. The tower includes several unique design features, like glass doors handcrafted by the late Peter Zubaite, metal sconces by metal sculptor Cakky Brawley and a custom carport crafted by steel sculptor James Hetherington. In 2005, Alamo Colleges chancellor Mike Flores and his wife Martha Flores, of MM Creative, purchased the property and hired Austin-based architect Alberto Isunza to construct a secondary addition, including a sizeable primary suite, an office and an outdoor pool. In all, this historic four-bed, three-and-a-half-bath home is 3,186 square feet and includes several unique design features that pay homage to iconic San Antonio artists.
