Take-Two Interactive has confirmed the release date of Grand Theft Auto 6, with marketing plans for the game set to begin in full force this summer. Despite previous doubts, CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed that the game will be launched on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Grand Theft Auto fans have been waiting with bated breath for any scraps of news about Grand Theft Auto 6 , and a critical update regarding the game has finally arrived.
Earlier this week, a Best Buy e-mail about pre-orders going live on Monday, May 18 turned out to be inaccurate, leaving much of the community disappointed in the lack of news. Luckily, the months-long silence on the subject of GTA 6 is now broken. Parent company Take-Two Interactive released its earnings report for Q4 and the 2026 fiscal year today, and the topics at hand included the latest on GTA 6 plans.
In the Take-Two Interactive earnings report, CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed that GTA 6 is still on track for a November 19, 2026 release date. After multiple delays in the past, the legitimacy of GTA 6's planned release date has been subject to plenty of skepticism, but this isn't the first time that the November date has been re-affirmed in an earnings call.
This news should come as a significant relief to the more anxious members of the community, especially after the Best Buy pre-order date failed to pan out. Based on the most recent updates from Take-Two, marketing for the game should begin in full force sometime this summer, but the exact date or even month remains a mystery. Likewise, Grand Theft Auto 6's MSRP has yet to be confirmed, although fears of a $100 price point are likely unfounded.
In the meantime, hype and expectations for Grand Theft Auto 6 continue to mount. After the massive success of GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA 6 is poised to be a record-breaking video game launch, making it an obvious centerpiece of Take-Two's future plans. For now, the game will only be releasing on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with Rockstar Games sticking to its typical console-first strategy and pushing a PC release further down the line.
Likewise, the online component of the game isn't expected to arrive at launch, although the wait for that might not be quite as long. GTA 5's online component continues to be massively profitable, so the GTA 6 equivalent should provide another windfall for Rockstar.

With the positive news of the latest Take-Two earnings call now established, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Grand Theft Auto 6's long-anticipated third trailer and pre-orders to arrive sooner rather than later.
