18-year-old faces charges after $15,000 in property stolen
LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio - One suspect has been arrested in connection with a series of vehicle break-ins as law enforcement works to find other suspects.
Kristian Cochran, an 18-year-old from Dayton, faces numerous charges following an investigation that started May 13 in Liberty Township, according to Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones. The sheriff says a detective began investigating May 13 after several vehicles were broken into across Liberty Township. The thefts in Liberty Township resulted in $15,000 worth of property being stolen, along with credit cards, and caused significant damage to multiple vehicles, Sheriff Jones explained.
Kristian Cochran, 18, is charged with theft, receiving stolen property and criminal damaging, according to Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones. Cochran was identified as a suspect after residents provided security camera video to the detective, according to the sheriff. When Cochran was committing the crimes, he was wearing a court-ordered ankle monitor, Sheriff Jones said.
“These criminals thought they could come into Butler County, victimize our citizens, damage property, and get away with it. They were wrong,” said Sheriff Jones.
“If you come to Butler County and commit these crimes, you will find yourself lodged at 705 Hanover Street— the Butler County Jail. We will continue to aggressively investigate these cases and hold criminals accountable. ” The sheriff says investigators think two other suspects were involved in the break-ins. The investigation is ongoing.
