DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. - Walton County Sheriff’s Office held a press conference providing an update on the stabbing that happened Tuesday morning at Walton Middle School.The suspect is a 12-year-old who allegedly walked into the school, entered the bathroom, went down the hall, and came out masked and armed with a knife, authorities said, then stabbed two children and an adult.
A School Resource Deputy, already on site, responded immediately and notified school staff, WCSO says. The 12-year-old suspect was caught a block from the school. WCSO confirmed the weapon used was a kitchen knife.At this time, law enforcement does not know the motivation behind the crime. He is being charged with attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, wearing a mask while committing a felony, tampering with evidence, and disrupting a school function. Right now, the state attorney says he is being charged as a juvenile. They stated that they have to determine whether or not he will go before a grand jury to be charged as an adult.
