A driver is suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol in a head-on collision Saturday on Silverado Trail.

Two Napa County women and a third from Sacramento were identified by investigators as the passengers killed Saturday, March 28, in a American Canyon residents Vivian Bertolino, 65, and Linda Wolters, 62, and Sacramento resident Katrina Clarke, 65, were killed in the collision on Silverado Trail, east of Yountville, according to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office. The California Highway Patrol said Bertolino and Wolters had been traveling together and Clarke was in a separate vehicle. Vallejo resident William Dene Brumley, 68, is suspected of causing the collision and while hospitalized is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail. He was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and DUI, according to jail records. Prosecutors with the Napa County District Attorney’s Office had not filed charges as of early Monday afternoon, March 30, and it was unclear when Brumley would make his first court appearance.Fatal crash partially closes Foothill Boulevard in Hayward Brumley was driving south in a Mitsubishi sedan with Bertolino and Wolters as passengers when he crossed into the opposite lane and struck a northbound BMW SUV before colliding head-on with a Toyota sedan, according to CHP officials. One of his passengers was pronounced dead at the scene while the other died after being taken to Queen of the Valley hospital. Investigators say Brumley was taken to Adventist Health St. Helena hospital for injuries before being arrested. Clarke and three others who were traveling in the Toyota sedan were all transported to Kaiser Vacaville hospital, where Clarke, who was a passenger in the car, was later pronounced dead. The driver was identified Monday as a Sacramento man. He, along with the other surviving occupants, suffered injuries that are life-threatening, according to the CHP. Two people in the BMW SUV were treated at the scene for minor injuries, investigators said. Its driver was identified as a Reno resident. The collision is still under investigation.
