Netflix viewers seem to love true-crime that feels operational, and that’s exactly why this new docuseries is catching fire. The Perfect Neighbor and American Manhunt: Osama bin Laden are good examples of this trend, too.
Now, we have another Dick Wolf-helmed simple binge engine climbing up streaming charts after its Season 2 premiere. The series follows real investigators and prosecutors walking back through their toughest homicide cases, explaining not just what happened but how the case was actually put together. That inside-the-file approach hits the same audience that lives on his procedural brands like Law & Order, FBI, and Chicago, except here, the stakes feel sharper because the stories are real, and the consequences don’t reset at the end of an episode. As per FlixPatrol, in the U.S., the docuseries climbed fast and is now locked at #1 from March 27 through March 30, after debuting at #4 on March 26. It’s also punching into the top tier across multiple regions: Canada held #1 on March 26–27, then stayed strong at #3 through March 30; Belgium hit #1 on March 27; and Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, and Finland all hit #1 placements on March 26. Even where it isn’t No. 1, it’s sitting in that sticky always-on band — #4 in the UK and Australia today, #5 in Germany/Austria/Switzerland, and #9–#10 in several Middle East markets. The series in question is titled Homicide: New York, a true-crime docuseries. Its first installment was released in 2024 and comprised five episodes. Homicide Season 2 aired on March 25, 2026, and also comprised another five episodes. What Is Netflix's 'Homicide' Series Based On? Both seasons of Homicide are built from real murder investigations, with the series drawing directly from detectives, prosecutors, survivors, friends, and victims’ families who lived through them. The first Homicide installment reconstructs five actual NYC cases, including the Carnegie Deli murders and the Central Park slaying, while Season 2 returns to real headline cases like Joey Comunale’s killing and other investigations shaped by conflicting witness stories, forensic dead ends, and long routes to justice. That is the real pull of the show: it moves like a Dick Wolf procedural, but its biggest beats come from documented crimes and firsthand testimony.TV-MA Documentary Crime Release Date 2024 - 2026-00-00 Network Netflix
