A man is now awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty Friday to first-degree manslaughter for fatally beating a man with dementia.

Rochester, N.Y. — A man is now awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty Friday to first-degree manslaughter for fatally beating a man with dementia who showed up at the wrong house, according to the Monroe County District Attorney's Office. Valeri Brintev, a 76-year-old man who used a walker and didn't speak English, died Feb. 5, 2025 from injuries sustained during the beating, which took place Dec. 27, 2024 on the porch of a home on Norton Street, according to the Rochester Police Department. Police said Peter Scott of Rochester punched and kicked Brintev several times in the head and body over an extended period of time.
