Lt. Howard Villegas said a company was en route to another incident at 4:38 a.m. when firefighters saw heavy smoke pouring from a boarded-up home on Eiffel Place. Villegas said firefighters began removing plywood boards to get inside when they heard someone inside the house yelling for help. Firefighters quickly removed the person, who was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for evaluation.
