Howard Wang, 43, has been charged for the fatal September 2025 shootings of his wife and her mother in their Walnut Creek home. Now Wang is also being charged along with another man for the alleged murder of a San Gabriel man, who was shot dead in 2024.

Tuesday, March 31, 2026 6:27AMMore charges of homicide have been filed against a Walnut Creek man accused of killing his wife and mother-in-law last year after prosecutors added on a murder in Los Angeles County allegedly tied to the defendant.

Howard Wang, 43, has been charged for the fatal September 18, 2025 shootings of his wife, Linlin Guo, and her mother, Beimin Cheng. Now Wang is also being charged along with another man for the alleged murder of Chengli Li, 41, who was shot dead in San Gabriel in June 2024. Prosecutors allege that Wang and Demarques James Pearl killed Li because he was involved with Wang's girlfriend, Yan Wang, 45. According to prosecutors, Howard Wang and Pearl allegedly planned the murder of Li before travelling together from the Bay Area to Los Angeles County in June 2024. The following day, Li was shot and killed outside of his apartment. Yan Wang herself was charged in relation to this case with being an accessory after the fact and first-degree residential burglary, both felonies, and misdemeanor destroying evidence. Prosecutors said she allegedly aided Howard Wang with knowledge after the killings and with the intent to help him avoid punishment. On Sept. 19, she allegedly entered the home where the killings happened with the intent to commit larceny, and on Sept. 18 also allegedly destroyed cellphones to prevent evidence from coming to light, prosecutors said. Last September, officers responded to a 911 call reporting a disturbance with possible gunfire in the 100 block of Kelobra Court, located just north of Ygnacio Valley Road and east of Oak Grove Road in Walnut Creek, according to police.Howard Wang is also being charged with allegedly making criminal threats of death and great bodily injury against Guo stemming from an Aug. 31 report, and for allegedly preventing her from reporting a crime to the police on Jan. 7. If convicted, Howard Wang is facing up to life in prison without the possibility of parole, the District Attorney's Office said. Copyright 2026 by Bay City News, Inc.
