CLEVELAND , Ohio - A seven-year-old boy died weeks after being pulled from a house fire on the city’s East side. Just before 7 a.m. on April 21, Cleveland firefighters were called to a fire with a report of children trapped in the 10200 block of Kempton Ave.
Cleveland Fire Department Lt. Mike Norman said when the crews arrived, they found the mother, who made the 911 call, and two young children under the age of three outside the home. Lt. Norman said firefighters then entered the home, kicked down the door of the room with the fire, and found four children sleeping.
One of the children, Cortez Robinson, died at MetroHealth Medical Center on May 14. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner said Robinson’s cause of death is still pending. The conditions and ages of the other children have not been released, but Lt. Norman said they had burns to their faces and hands.
