Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for The Mandalorian and Grogu. The Mandalorian and Grogu has finally hit theaters, and among the surprises in store for audiences was the fact that Grogu is now wielding a brand-new Force power—at least, new for him.
The trailers for The Mandalorian and Grogu had already confirmed that Grogu would still be using the Force, despite what occurred in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. Specifically, in The Mandalorian season 2 finale, fans got a thrilling cameo of Luke Skywalker himself, coming to get Grogu to train him.
The Book of Boba Fett picked up where that story left off, with Luke training Grogu and offering him the chance to be the first student in the Jedi Temple that Luke was building at the time. Yet, Grogu surprised viewers by deciding that he didn't want to become a Jedi; he wanted to return to Din Djarin and become a Mandalorian foundling.
This meant the end of Grogu's path to becoming a Jedi, which seemed to mean the end of his burgeoning Force powers. However, that ended up being far from the case. In The Mandalorian season 3, Grogu continued to exhibit growing Force powers, including creating a protective Force shield that saved his life, as well as Din Djarin's and Bo-Katan's, when Moff Gideon died in a fiery blaze.
Now, The Mandalorian and Grogu has proven that Grogu's powers have expanded yet again, including with Grogu wielding one of Star Wars' Force powers that has been seen before but isn't all that common. Grogu Has The Ability To Calm Animals In one of the final sequences of the movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu's trio of heroes, Din Djarin, Grogu, and Rotta, face off against a trio of villains as well.
Rotta fights the Twins, Jabba's cousins who act as the primary villains of the film, and Din Djarin takes on Embo, the bounty hunter who was after Din for most of the movie. Grogu, however, must face off against Embo's terrifying wolf-like creature. At first, this seems quite daunting, if solely because of their size difference and how vicious the creature has proven to be throughout the film.
Yet, in a shocking moment, Grogu manages to calm the beast, revealing that he has the Force ability of bonding with and calming animals. Thankfully, Grogu is able to employ exactly that power for the very first time, calming Embo's violent sidekick and saving his own life. This is also a nice touch narratively, as it maintains Grogu's baby-like innocence while also exhibiting how much he has continued to grow in his Force powers.
Several Jedi Have Exhibited This Ability Before Although this power was new to Grogu in The Mandalorian and Grogu, the ability to calm and bond with animals, as well as nature more broadly, is not new to Star Wars movies and TV shows; it has been used by other Jedi before. In particular, Ezra Bridger proved to be very talented with this power in Star Wars Rebels, and he also showed signs of this power in Ahsoka.

Outside of Star Wars movies and shows, Jedi Cal Kestis, who is the main character of the canon video games Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, also showed talent with this ability. Currently, it isn't clear whether Din Djarin and Grogu will return to the Star Wars screen and, if they do, whether it would be in a sequel movie to The Mandalorian and Grogu or if the franchise will surprise audiences and return to the show with The Mandalorian season 4.
