Collin Brown, 39, accused of walking into unlocked home and stabbing Justin Hill in the chest
SHARONVILLE, Ohio - A Sharonville man is being held on a $500,000 bond after police say he walked into his neighbor’s home and stabbed him in the chest with a pair of scissors.
Collin Brown, 39, walked into Justin Hill’s unlocked home on Malaer Drive just after 6:30 a.m. May 21 and stabbed him in the chest with a pair of scissors, police said.
“For an unknown reason this morning, the defendant just decided to enter an unlocked house while his family was getting ready for school in the morning,” a prosecutor said in court. Hill stood directly behind Brown in court, separated by a pane of glass, and made an emotional plea to keep his neighbor locked away.
“He’s a risk to us. I’m scared, my family is scared. He stabbed me right in front of my house with my kid on the way to the school bus. My wife was inside the house when he walked in,” Hill said.
“I need him to be as far away from us as possible. ”Investigators said there is no known motive, but Brown admitted to drug use. In a statement from his mother, she said she thinks he has been experiencing mental health issues, hallucinations, and may have been intoxicated at the time of the attack. The defense said Brown has no prior felony history and asked the judge for a reasonable bond so Brown can return home.
Prosecutors pushed for a $750,000 bond and a stay-away order, citing serious concern about how close the two men live to each other.
