Middleburg Heights is working with the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) to address stormwater issues and offer residents ways to reduce their sewer bills. The city is implementing projects to improve drainage, and residents can qualify for discounts on their bills by participating in programs that reduce stormwater runoff.
A rain barrel is one way to redirect stormwater from the roof and possibly help the homeowner to qualify for a NEORSD sewer bill discount.representatives provided a project update to the Middleburg Heights Streets, Utilities and Railroad Committee on Jan. 13, while also emphasizing various ways residents can save money on their sewer bills.
NEORSD’s stormwater residential property credit program, which is based on the homeowner’s efforts to reduce stormwater entering the regional sewer system, could result in a 25-percent discount for three years, while the homestead program can provide a 40-percent discount on Cleveland Water and NEORSD bills for qualifying low-income seniors or disabled homeowners.
