Maria Lemmon, a registered veterinary technician, certified humane agent, and former Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper, has been appointed as Middleburg Heights' new part-time animal control officer. Maria Lemmon was introduced as the city's new part-time animal control officer during the Nov. 26 Middleburg Heights City Council meeting. A registered veterinary technician, certified humane agent and former Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper, Lemmon brings to the job a wealth of experience. She began serving the city two months ago.

“She grew up in Brook Park and attended Midpark High School,” Tomba told council at its Nov. 26 meeting. “She is very familiar with the area.Manager Dani Farinacci is pleased to be collaborating with Lemmon as well. She noted Lemmon has eight dogs of her own at home and is “an absolute animal lover.”

“She’s wonderful and goes above and beyond,” Farinacci told cleveland.com. “I could tell how much she cared from Day 1. Maria follows up with everything, such as animal abandonment issues.”“The biggest thing I hear from people is that she’s very professional,” Farinacci said. “And how she’s very knowledgeable about anything, from raccoons to stray dogs. In her police duties, she works to go after the people who abandon their animals.
