Authorities say a Secret Service officer exposed himself to hotel guests and began masturbating in front of them.
MIAMI - A United States Secret Service officer has been put on leave after authorities say he exposed himself to hotel guests in Miami and began masturbating in front of them.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office says 33-year-old John Spillman “committed the offense of indecent exposure. ” He was arrested just after midnight Monday at a DoubleTree near Miami International Airport. The victims told sheriff’s deputies they were in the hotel lobby when Spillman began menacingly following them, leaving them “in fear for their lives,” according to the arrest report. They claim they later saw Spillman “masturbating next to their hotel room.
” The Secret Service has placed 33-year-old John Spillman on administrative leave after he was accused of indecent exposure. The report says the guests called hotel security, who reportedly found Spillman “with his pants lowered and masturbating on the sixth floor. ” Spillman is from Marble Falls, Texas, and is based in Washington, D.C. , according to the Secret Service.
He was in South Florida as part of a security perimeter screening detail for President Donald Trump’s visit to the 2026 PGA Cadillac Championship.
“The alleged conduct is unacceptable and stands in stark contrast to the professionalism and integrity that I demand of our personnel,” said Secret Service Chief Richard Macauley in part in a statement. The Secret Service has placed Spillman on administrative leave pending the outcome of criminal and internal investigations.
