During a traffic stop Tuesday, Westlake police found a suspect wanted on multiple warrants who consumed pills during the stop to prevent officers from locating him.

WESTLAKE , Ohio - During a traffic stop Tuesday, Westlake police found a suspect wanted on multiple warrants who consumed pills during the stop to prevent officers from locating him.

When police approached the driver and passenger, they found both to be very nervous about the equipment violation. Police said the passenger, a 32-year-old man from Mayfield Heights, had warrants for possession of drug abuse instruments, felony possession of a controlled substance and driving under the influence. The Mayfield Heights man told police that he ingested several pills to keep officers from finding the pills.

An ambulance took the man to the hospital to prevent an overdose, and after he was cleared by the hospital he was transported to jail. Police said an investigation found both men possessed suspected methamphetamine, liquid “poppers,” pipes used to smoke meth, used syringes and burned bottle caps with singed Chore Boy, all of which police deemed evidence for processing and ingestion.
