) - More than 87,000 square feet of production space is set to be added to Troy ’s Lockheed Martin plant via a recently announced “Munitions Production Center Building 47,” almost doubling the 100,000 square feet of existing production space at the location according to a release.

“This new center is expected to provide a significant boost to the Alabama economy,” Taiclet said. “The facility is expected to generate a significant number of new American jobs over the next three years, adding to the almost 4,000 Lockheed Martin teammates we already have in the state of Alabama. ” “Using pinpoint hit-to-kill technology, THADD hunts down and obliterates enemy ballistic missiles,” Duffey said.
“IT uses sheer devastating kinetic energy to destroy threats head-on, vaporizing the enemy’s most dangerous payloads before they can reach our troops and allies. ” Lockheed Martin recently signed an agreement with the Department of War to “quadruple” THADD production according to the pair. Taiclet says it’s all a part of the company’s nationwide $8-9 billion investment plan through 2030 to expand munition production.
