On Tuesday at 2:43 p.m. a winter storm watch was issued by the National Weather Service valid from Wednesday 4 p.m. until Friday 4 a.m. for Clearfield, Cambria and Somerset counties.

The weather service adds to anticipate, "Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations 6 inches or more possible. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph."

"Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches," states the weather service. "Monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation."Winter's icy grip often turns roads treacherous, leading to over 6,000 weather-related vehicle fatalities and more than 480,000 injuries each year.
