KUALA LUMPUR: National doubles shuttler Vivian Hoo’s misery continued in the All-England when she crashed out in the second round.

Seasoned campaigner Vivian was hoping to make it a memorable outing for her partner Yap Cheng Wen, who is playing in her first All-England, but the duo were beaten 23-21,17-21,14-21 by Chang Ye-na-Kim Hye-rin of South Korea at the Arena Birmingham on Thursday.

Vivian has never gone beyond the early rounds of the All-England even with her previous partner Woon Khe Wei. “This is my last All-England but I’m unable to clear the early rounds. Cheng Wen and I gave a good fight but we just could not pull off a win, ” said Vivian. It was also all over for Malaysia in the women’s doubles when Chow Mei Kuan-Lee Meng Yean went down tamely 10-21,16-21 to Du Yue-Li Yinhui of China. The last year’s runners-up were solid in their 24-22,21-17 win over Lu Ching-yao-Yang Po-han of Taiwan to set up a match against Marcus Fernaldi Gideon-Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo of Indonesia for a place in the semi-finals.

Independent shuttlers Teo Ee Yi-Ong Yew Sin were not that lucky as they collapsed with a 9-21,16-21 defeat to Lee Yang-Wang Chi-lin of Taiwan in another second round match.
