This article argues that Valorant, despite its continued popularity, needs to make changes to keep players engaged. It suggests reworking older agents, adding more weapon variety, and finally implementing a replay system.
Valorant has now been around for almost five years and can no longer claim to be the exciting new game on the scene.
As a result, some players are starting to go a little tired of it, it’s still one of the most popular games on Twitch, and while we don’t get official player numbers it seems like it continues to do well when it comes to how many people are actively playing, which has no doubt been helped by the the core game sometimes needs to change as well as the bells and whistles on the outside to keep players interested, and outside of purely new content like agents and maps, are starting to feel a little boring compared to some of the newer agents, who always have cool toys to play with. Is anyone really excited to play Brimstone or Sova when cooler and newer agents who do a lot of the same things are available? It feels like it is time that some of these older agents get a rework instead of launching a new agent, which would achieve the same goal of freshening up the agent pool. Maybe swap out an ability or two, bring in a new visual style, or just throw some new ideas at the wall and see what sticks, like, and it seems like an obvious place to expand without making things too complex. While a massive arsenal will no doubt get confusing, a little more variety when it comes to the core options of the Phantom or the Vandal would be nice. has almost always stuck to the two main guns, but that doesn’t mean every similar game needs to do it, and I feel like this could make way more fun. If I don’t know which weapon is about to walk around the corner, it makes the ensuing fight way more interesting and could make the game more fun. It is, quite simply, farcical that a competitive game from a developer with the resources of Riot does not have a working replay system four and a half years after launch. This should have been in the game since day one, and the fact that it wasn’t in development as the game was being created is ridiculous
