Ever since the invention of the org chart in the 1850s, company structures have changed very little—they are hierarchical and consist of multiple layers of managers and decisionmakers. That is because we have been bound by the limits of human intelligence and attention to manage and control the flow of work. AI can change that. In large language models , we have a new, alien form of intelligence, but one that has primarily worked as an assistant at the individual level.

These companies have the potential to use AI to route around inefficiencies, unlock new growth from existing talent, and tap into the collective intelligence of their workforce in ways never before possible. In 2025, we'll see a surge in 'AI-native' startups that build their entire operational model around human-AI collaboration from day one.
