Acton Academy North San Antonio, a private school, has joined a lawsuit against the San Antonio Target, Hunting and Fishing Club, expressing concerns about stray projectiles and the club's safety practices. The school emphasizes the potential danger to its 44 students aged 3 to 11.

A local school, Acton Academy North San Antonio, has joined an ongoing lawsuit against the San Antonio Target, Hunting and Fishing Club. The school, which has 44 students between the ages of 3 and 11, filed a plea to intervene in the lawsuit brought by SA Given to Fly, LP, the owner of about 40 acres of undeveloped land adjacent to the gun club .

Both plaintiffs express concerns about stray projectiles, a lack of safety measures, and allegations that the club operates more like a drinking fraternity, posing a potential danger to children and staff. The school's attorney, Stephen Foster, emphasized that their primary concern is ensuring the safety of the students. While Acton Academy has not previously contacted the club regarding these concerns, they are now seeking to intervene in the litigation. The club, through its attorney, maintains that it adheres to strict safety protocols and engages in open communication with neighbors to address any concerns. They expressed surprise and disappointment at the school's decision to join the lawsuit, deeming it unproductive and alleging unfounded accusations. The San Antonio Target, Hunting and Fishing Club is already facing a temporary restraining order prohibiting shooting activities on its property, following a lawsuit filed by SA Given to Fly, LP. This order was issued by a judge on December 17, and the next hearing is scheduled for January 27. The club had recently escaped a separate lawsuit from a cyclist who claimed to have been injured by a stray shotgun pellet on the Leon Creek Greenway. This lawsuit was dismissed due to procedural issues, but the cyclist's attorney stated that they may pursue a claim against the individual believed to be responsible for the shooting
