Thanksgiving feasts take a toll on garbage disposals and toilets come Black Friday.
San Antonio plumbers have been flooded with calls on ' Brown Friday,' when clogged toilets and garbage disposals abound in the wake of Thanksgiving. Grant Prudhomme , owner of The Plumbing Bros in Boerne , said Friday that his plumbers have been 'slammed.' On a normal day, the company gets about 10 calls before the afternoon. By 12:30 p.m. Friday, it had already received 50.
Amid several inmate deaths, state says Bexar County jail is noncompliant — again For PlumbSmart, the calls were already flowing in on Thanksgiving. CEO Cody Blackmon was sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner with his family when he got about 10 calls in a row, all of them requesting help with clogged toilets. 'I turned to my dad and showed him, and we just started laughing because it's just not normal,' Blackmon said.
Cool weather is here to stay. Here's how long South Texas temperatures will stay chilly. After toilet troubles, blocked garbage disposals are another big offender on Brown Friday, Blackmon said. Sink disposals are often put to the test as families prepare their Thanksgiving feast. Some houses also call for help with hot water as visiting loved ones put a strain on the water heater, Blackmon said.

Luckily, you don't have to flush your finances down the drain to prevent Brown Friday from knocking at your door. The Plumbing Bros and other San Antonio-area plumbers offer drain cleaning specials ahead of the holidays in order to get ahead of any potential problems.
