A 74-year-old rideshare driver was fatally struck by his own car after an argument with a passenger escalated into a deadly attack.
A 74-year-old rideshare driver lost his life in a horrific incident after being struck multiple times by his own car by a female passenger. Authorities received a call around 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, reporting a pedestrian-involved crash near 40th Street and Baseline Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered Samuel Webster suffering from severe injuries. He was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he was tragically pronounced dead.
According to the investigation conducted by police, based on witness accounts and video surveillance footage, an altercation erupted between Webster and his passenger, Jordan Spalding, 31, inside the vehicle. The dispute escalated to the point where both individuals exited the car. However, Spalding subsequently re-entered the car and allegedly drove over Webster multiple times. The specific rideshare company Webster was affiliated with has not been disclosed by authorities.Spalding's claims during questioning paint a disturbing picture. Court documents reveal that she alleged Webster attempted to rape her. However, police investigations at the scene failed to uncover any evidence to support this claim. Additionally, Spalding admitted to using fentanyl earlier in the day, raising further questions about the circumstances surrounding the tragic event. Spalding has been taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder. She is currently being held on a $1 million bond, with her next court appearance scheduled for January 27
