A 74-year-old rideshare driver was fatally struck by his own vehicle driven by a female passenger following an altercation. The suspect, Jordan Spalding, faces second-degree murder charges.
A 74-year-old rideshare driver was tragically killed after being run over multiple times by his own car by a female passenger. The incident occurred around 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, near 40th Street and Baseline Road. Police responded to reports of a pedestrian-involved crash and found Samuel Webster suffering from severe injuries. He was immediately transported to the hospital but was pronounced dead.
According to investigators, Webster and his passenger, 31-year-old Jordan Spalding, engaged in an altercation that escalated outside of the vehicle. Witnesses and video surveillance footage captured the harrowing scene where Spalding reentered the car and intentionally drove it over Webster multiple times. Authorities have not disclosed the rideshare company Webster was affiliated with.Spalding was subsequently arrested and booked into jail on charges of second-degree murder. Court documents reveal that Spalding claimed Webster attempted to rape her, however, police have stated that no evidence to support this allegation was found at the scene. Additionally, Spalding reportedly admitted to using fentanyl earlier in the day. She is currently being held on a $1 million bond and is scheduled to appear in court on January 27th
