Lewis Smith says it was time for a change after 15 years at Hamilton
Lewis Smith says he is excited to join Livingston and insists there has been no fall-out with former club Hamilton Accies – he simply needed a new challenge after 15 years in Lanarkshire.
“Over the years I’ve had a couple of chances to leave, and I always wanted to stay, but now it’s time to move on, try something different, and Livingston offered a chance to try and make that challenge work. “I feel like I know everyone in and around the stadium, which is nice, but I think there’s an aspect that I need to move on at some point, and this is probably the right time for me.
Smith gave his all in the play-offs to leave Hamilton in a good place, and says he was wished well by boss John Rankin and assistant Darian MacKinnon.“Obviously it ended really well, but the first half of the season probably didn’t go quite as well as I would have liked. The second half of the season I came into the team a bit more and I think I made an impact when I played, which is good for me.
Smith said: “It’s a fresh start with a new gaffer, but with Chipper there who knows me and knows what I can do as well. “I was just really excited to try something new. Hopefully it will work out for me, help me to become a better player.”
