The winger has moved on after nearly 15 years at New Douglas Park, to the disappointment of the Accies faithful
Emotional Lewis Smith has confirmed he is moving from Hamilton to Livingston - leaving Accies fans devastated at their hometown hero's exit.
Having played in the Premiership with his boyhood club, the winger also helped the team lift the SPFL Trust Trophy last season - the club's first cup win for 30 years - and signed off in style last week by scoring a stunning strike that saw off Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the play-offs to claim promotion back to the Championship.
"There's so many people I'd like to thank. George Cairns, who has been such an influence on me growing up, both as a player and a person, and he is a big reason the academy is as good as it is. Pottsy , Daz , the gaffer and, of course, all the players for giving me so many enjoyable moments, and who have supported me so much. Scott Struthers , without whom the club would not be the same.
Accies fan Scott Gardiner said: "We are absolutely gutted by this. So pleased we got a photo with you on your last game. All the best for the future wee man. You will always be one of our own." And Stan McAlpine posted: "Ah shucks, the wee man is gutted by this! There are few players who can get fans off their bums these days and Lewis was a throw back to the old days. Thanks for the memories and best of luck at Livvy."
