While it’s still warmer than normal, we won’t be breaking any temperature records this week
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Happy Monday! Temperatures have been the major headline recently, but after a few days of above average warmth we are starting to see a shift in our overall weather pattern. Goodbye are the days of upper 70s and low 80s, at least for now; clouds will play a major role in deciding just how warm your town gets today, and it looks like it won’t be a one size fits all kind of forecast.
We are waking up and walking out the door to numbers in the 50s across central Alabama and holding strong in the 60s for our southern counties. While some sunshine is expected today, the majority of it will be seen in south Alabama...
Is it a major drop? No: but compared to near 80° temperatures at our warmest point, it is a bit closer to the seasonable averages. While a few hit or miss showers are possible Monday and Tuesday, we expect multiple waves of heavy rain to arrive and stick around starting Wednesday. This will linger into Thursday, bringing the potential of several inches of rain to most of our area.
We will call for a general one to three inches of rain this week, with heavier amounts just north of our area. Isolated flooding could develop, mainly over north Alabama.Eagles deny the Chiefs a Super Bowl three-peat with dominant defense in a 40-22 routMontgomery set a new record high temperature today... do we do it again tomorrow?

First Alert: Cold, cloudy & wet end to the weekRain will continue through early morning in Alabama, with a widespread soaking likely south of Montgomery. A quick shot of rain with possible thunder is expected Friday night into Saturday. Long range data suggest additional shots of cold air are likely the last two weeks of January, potentially bringing very cold temperatures and/or some wintry weather to the Southeast.
