Rochester , N.Y. - The father of Phylicia Council , one of the women killed in the Maplewood Park mass shooting , is looking to help in the search for his daughter's killer. This Wednesday will be one month since that deadly mass shooting at Maplewood Park and still no one is in custody.
“The killers haven't been found yet, and me as a father, I don't want this to get desensitized or get to a level where it's not important anymore,” said Alex Council. On July 28, Alex's daughter, Phylicia, and 25-year-old Tyasia Manning were shot and killed during a community barbecue at Maplewood Park. Five other people were also injured.“My goal is to raise at least $10,000. The fund right now is at $2,500,” Council said. “The goal is to raise the money so we can keep things in the light and keep things active because no parent should have to go through this.
Rochester police have released several photos of men armed with guns at the scene during the shooting, but they have not been called suspects and nobody is in custody at this time.“It's so frustrating that no one has been caught, because we have pictures, we have people with guns, and nobody has been caught,” Council said. “It's frustrating, but I'm being as patient as I can.”
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call 911 or the Rochester Police Department Major Crimes Unit at
