Probationary officer Amber Blackburn was fired by the Columbus Division of Police following an incident at a Short North bar where she allegedly assaulted multiple people. Surveillance video reportedly shows Blackburn engaging in a fight and throwing punches at a woman before being escorted out of the establishment by other officers.
The Columbus Division of Police has fired a probationary officer who is also the ex-wife of a former officer who pleaded guilty to charges related to sexual encounters with two women.
According to personnel records obtained Friday by ABC 6, an assistant chief requested the termination of probationary officer Amber Blackburn, 34, after receiving a report of officer misconduct. One officer reported observing Blackburn, who was off-duty, involved in a fight with another woman. The other officer stated that he saw Blackburn throwing punches at the woman's head before she walked away. He asked the woman if she was OK, to which she replied, "I just got mauled by a girl, but I'm good." The woman then left the bar without identifying herself or stating whether she wanted to press charges.
According to the termination request, surveillance video from the bar shows Blackburn assaulting three separate people. Two of the assaults occurred while she was being removed from the bar.
