A Philadelphia police officer shot a 22-year-old man after he allegedly struck an officer with a Chevrolet Camaro during an investigation of a car meetup in the city. The incident occurred early Sunday morning after police pursued the suspect's vehicle from a Target parking lot where the meetup was taking place.

On Saturday night, Philadelphia police monitoring the city for illegal car meetups learned about one occurring in the parking lot of a Target department store on the 4000 block of Monument Road, near where City Avenue connects to I-76. Police also followed other cars from the Target parking lot to Broad and Tioga Streets in North Philadelphia, and two police vehicles crashed trying to avoid cars speeding toward them,Police said the cars that gathered at the Target parking lot were “drag racing and doing donuts,” CBS3 reported.
One of the undercover officers drew his gun and fired one time, hitting the passenger-side window of the Camaro, police said.
