The Chicago area has seen fluctuating temperatures in recent days, and that pattern is showing no signs of relenting in the latest forecast. Fortunately the area will be on the upswing on Sunday, with a pleasant day of partly-to-mostly cloudy skies on the horizon, according to the NBC 5 Storm Team.
Temperatures will top out in the low-to-mid 60s, with brisk winds out of the southwest helping to fend off breezes off the lake, allowing the entire area to bask in the pleasant temperatures. After a mild stretch of weather overnight, Monday will kick off the work week with similar weather, with a mix of clouds and sun with breezy conditions. Highs are expected to reach the low-to-mid 70s, though conditions could be cooler in areas immediately near Lake Michigan. The next downturn in temperatures is expected to arrive Tuesday afternoon when a front sweeps through the area. That front is expected to bring with it multiple chances of showers and thunderstorms, and the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center has the Chicago area at a “marginal” risk of severe weather. Storms that reach severe limits could pack gusty winds in excess of 60 miles per hour, along with some hail and heavy rain, which could lead to ponding on area roadways. After the front passes Tuesday temperatures are expected to plummet back into the 40s, and they won’t rebound much on either Wednesday or Thursday, with highs in the 40s expected on both days.Temperatures will warm up a bit Friday and Saturday, but are expected to dip again on Easter Sunday, with readings in the 50s for the observance.
