The Shaker Heights City School District announced Monday the passing of one of its teachers.
The district shared that it’s with profound sadness that Najee Hardaway , a fourth-grade teacher at Lomond Elementary School , has passed away. He was a Shaker Heights graduate and a beloved staff member who was recognized as a leader among his colleagues.
Shaker Heights Schools superintendent Dr. David Glasner shared in a message to the community that Hardaway was a cherished member of the district and of Lomond both inside and outside the classroom. Due to this devastating loss, Lomond Elementary School will be closed Tuesday for students.
“We are putting supports in place to help students and staff grieve, process and care for one another,” Dr. Glasner shared in the message to families. “Counseling and mental health professionals will be available to support those in need. Updates and additional information will be shared as it becomes available. ”“There are no perfect words for moments like this, and my heart is incredibly heavy.
This loss is being felt deeply throughout our community,” Dr. Glasner said.
“As we grieve together, may we continue to care for and support one another. May Mr. Hardaway’s memory and legacy in Shaker Heights be for a blessing. ”More than 100 people arrested in statewide human trafficking sting, including Cleveland firefighterStark County Human Trafficking Task Force arrests 9 in local stingBark in the Park: Take your dog out to the Cleveland Guardians game
