Nippon Sangoku has an incredible art design, a brutally captivating premise, and one of the most interesting settings in recent memory. The series is set in a near-post-apocalyptic Japan in which the nation falls, and three new nations rise in its place.
Food is scarce, warlords and dictators are abundant, and peace seems like an impossibility. There are plenty of amazing set pieces, a great group of characters, and a complexity most anime franchises are too afraid to touch. The first episode set the tone for the series, and every episode that has followed has only made the series look even better.
Prime Video did a great job bringing Nippon Sangoku to its platform, and an even better job of letting the series do its thing.
