JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Jackson Township Police Department arrested a Canton man Thursday after DNA testing revealed his involvement in a 10-year-old home invasion case.
Using DNA obtained from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, police arrested Angus Webendorfer at his Bellflower Avenue home in Canton. When the woman woke up, she and Webendorfer got into a fight. Webendorfer stole some of the woman’s belongings and fled the scene. DNA samples were gathered from the stolen items, giving police a suspect description of a white man who is 5 feet 7 inches tall with a short beard, mustache and short haircut.

Highway Patrol arrested Webendorfer in 2016 for several felony offenses during a traffic stop, Jackson Township police said. Because of Webendorfer’s offenses, his DNA was entered into the national database, where Jackson Township police were able to find a match to belongings from the home invasion.
After arrest warrants were issued and obtained, police charged Webendorfer with attempt to commit murder, aggravated burglary and felonious assault.1 dead, 1 injured in I-480 motorcycle crash
