ROCKY RIVER, Ohio - Following a traffic stop and a search by multiple agencies, Rocky River police arrested a West Salem man for apartment break-ins Tuesday.
While police were conducting a traffic stop on a disabled vehicle on I-90 westbound near Detroit Road, they encountered a man walking on the freeway. Police initially arrested the man for disorderly conduct while intoxicated. The apartment building reported seeing a man enter the laundry room through a window and damage property. While police were investigating, they located a loose dog and connected the burglary to the traffic stop.
Detectives were able to make a connection between the two by tracking two people with dogs walking from the interstate area toward the apartments, police said. Detectives said when Meek was walking with a dog, he was wearing distinctive orange clothing that was also found inside the laundry room. Police said that as the investigation continued, they discovered that several apartments had been entered. When police confronted Meek, he fled, so multiple agencies were called in to search for him.
