Spanish public prosecutors are seeking a four-year prison sentence for Harry Saunders after a fight between the accused and bouncer Jose Rafael Prado left the victim dead, now being a fugitive from justice after he vanished following his release on bail.
A British man facing trial over the death of a bouncer at a former TOWIE star Elliot Wright 's Spanish restaurant has gone on the run.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Harry Saunders, 35, after he vanished following his release on bail during a court manslaughter probe into the incident at Olivia's La Cala near Fuengirola. Bouncer Jose Rafael Pisani Prado died in hospital on April 16 2023, following a tussle at the popular Costa del Sol eatery just hours earlier.
Police arrested the Brit accused of killing him in Marbella after obtaining CCTV footage from inside Wright's celebrity hangout, allegedly showing him punching the bodybuilder and personal trainer. Prado's Chilean-born 33-year-old widow, Romina Acuna, who tragically died in October 2023 after plunging from her fifth-floor home in Calahonda, revealed after his death, he had called her half an hour before the incident to say he was worried about the number of drunken customers in the restaurant.
The pair had only married five months earlier in a glitzy ceremony in Las Vegas and were planning to have a child and start a new life together selling sports supplements in the Canary Islands. Spanish public prosecutors confirmed today they were seeking a four-year prison sentence for the Brit now on the missing list, whose full name is Harry James George Saunders.
Court sources confirmed an arrest warrant had been issued for Saunders for failing to meet his bail conditions, saying his whereabouts were 'unknown' and he was currently a fugitive from justice. A written three-page pre-trial indictment released by prosecutors states: 'In the context of a fight and while attempting to be restrained by the injured party, who was carrying out his work as security personnel at the establishment, the accused broke free from him and, with the intention of undermining his physical wellbeing and with disregard for the possible consequences, punched him hard in the face which led to his victim falling backwards and hitting his head on the ground.
' Venezuelan-born Prado's injuries included a subarachnoid haemorrhage and several facial fractures. He died in hospital around 12 hours after the assault from a traumatic brain injury caused by the early-hours incident. As well as a possible four-year prison sentence if convicted as charged, Saunders is also facing a six-figure compensation payout if found guilty, with prosecutors demanding he hands over £200,000 to Prado's loved ones.
It was not immediately clear this morning if a trial date has already been set. Dad-of-five Wright closed his restaurant in the resort of La Cala de Mijas for two days after Jose's death and said in a statement released on his eatery's Instagram site: 'Our hearts are broken, and we have closed the restaurant today and tomorrow out of respect.
'We are supporting our staff and the family whilst awaiting news of further investigations. ' Acuna described her new fitness fanatic husband as the 'love of my life' in an emotional social media post after they wed and posed for photos before getting into a white stretch Limousine.
She moved to Mijas on the Costa del Sol at the start of 2021 from her previous base in Barcelona, and the couple enjoyed a holiday together in Chile before tying the knot in Vegas. Jose is understood to have been working as a doorman at Olivia's La Cala for around two years before he died. Spanish police released footage in April 2023 showing the dramatic moment they took suspect Saunders into custody.
Jose Rafael Pisano Pardo was a doorman at Olivia's before he died Locals targeted former TOWIE star Elliott Wright's Spanish restaurant with graffiti calling him a 'killer' less than two days after his doorman was killed while trying to break up a fight The arrest was carried out with the help of an elite Civil Guard unit called GAR - a rapid action group. It subsequently emerged that the same Brit had been one of six people held at the start of February that year after a shooting at Turtle Lake near Marbella on September 30, 2022.
A 24-year-old man shot in the leg while he was fishing with two pals was taken to the hospital but survived. Saunders was bailed by a judge following that first arrest, and it was not clear this morning if he has also been charged in relation to that separate matter.
At the start of the year, Wright announced another former TOWIE star, James Argent, was moving to Spain as he revealed he was backtracking on an earlier decision to sell up his glitzy restaurant so he could move back to the UK to be near his two eldest children. He said in an update to fans on social media at the end of January: 'So, 2026 is here, and many of you thought I'd have sold Olivia's La Cala by now.
'After receiving the auction bids on 5th December and taking time to properly analyse them, speak with prospective buyers, and review the conditions attached, I've decided to keep Olivia's. 'Some of the bids simply weren't strong enough, and the ones that were came with conditions that made selling pointless. I always said I'd only sell if the right price and right terms were met — and they weren't.
'So with that… I'm staying. Olivia's is staying. And we're planning a bigger and better 2026 season.
'We reopen on Valentine's Day – 14th February. All our summer parties are booked and ready 'ARG is loving life — not only doing his legendary Thursday summer nights, but also moving to Spain and taking on Sunday Lunches too 'Plenty of exciting things ahead… so let's roll on 2026, true Olivia's La Cala style.
