The incident happened Sunday on North Lena Street.
DOTHAN , Ala. - A juvenile was taken into custody on Sunday and charged as an adult in connection with the theft of a bicycle.
Dothan police said officers responded to an active armed robbery call in the 200 block of North Lena Street on May 17. The victim involved in the incident said he was in the area when another man in dark clothing approached him. The suspect reportedly demanded that the victim hand over the bicycle they had with them.
While doing so, according to the victim, the suspect made a motion inside the pocket of his jacket that indicated he was armed with some sort of weapon. As officers responded to the crime scene quickly after the call came in, they were able to locate a person matching the description of the suspect provided by the victim, and this person was in possession of the victim’s bicycle.
This person, who is under the age of 18, was confirmed as the suspect sought by police and was arrested. The juvenile has been charged as an adult with first degree robbery, as well as with second degree possession of marijuana. Additional details about this incident are not available at this time, and the suspect’s identity is not available due to Alabama privacy laws involving juveniles.
