Chinese robotics player LimX launches 160cm humanoid robot Luna with 27 DoF, AI motion and multimodal control, priced at $41K.

Named Luna, it stands 5.2 feet tall and is equipped with 27 degrees of freedom. The robot combines advanced motion planning, multimodal interaction, and real-time environmental perception for dynamic whole-body movement.

Wrapped in a sleek fabric-clad design, Luna is powered by the company’s proprietary cerebellar engine and supports zero-code task management for easier deployment. Priced at 298,000 RMB , the launch signals LimX’s aggressive push into the rapidly expanding humanoid robot market. Luna during the Taobao Influencer Festival in March, marking the world’s first live public showcase of the platform.

Designed as a full-size interactive humanoid, Luna stands 160 cm tall and features 27 degrees of freedom, enabling fluid, human-like motion and expressive interaction. Built around the company’s second-generation Sys 0 motion engine and upgraded joint motors, Luna is engineered for high-dynamic performance across a range of activities, including dancing, gymnastics, and catwalk-style movement demonstrations.

The humanoid combines advanced motion planning with multimodal interaction capabilities, allowing it to respond with natural gestures and synchronized actions during conversations and live performances, according to the company’s LimX says Luna adopts a new design language focused on elegance and approachability. Premium textile finishes soften the robot’s mechanical appearance, while its fluid movement and balanced posture are intended to create a more natural human-robot interaction experience. The robot also introduces enhanced thermal management and battery optimization systems.

According to the company, Luna reduces joint surface temperatures by 30 percent during extended operation while increasing battery endurance by 150 percent, enabling longer performance sessions without overheating. Safety is another major focus. Luna integrates a multi-layer protection system featuring active fall mitigation, external force sensing, hardware emergency-stop controls, and real-time action-override functions to ensure safer operation in public environments.

LimX has also equipped Luna with AI-powered content creation tools, including what it describes as the industry’s first AI task editor. Users can generate performance routines and interactive scenes using natural language prompts, while built-in “video-to-motion” functionality allows the robot to analyze and replicate movements directly from uploaded videos. : the COSA cognitive operating system and the Tron 2 modular robotics platform.

COSA, described by the company as the robot’s “brain” or, manages whole-body motion control and integrates low-level physics models to produce smoother, more natural movement while reducing jerky motions and hesitation. The system works alongside Tron 2, a modular limb-and-torso platform designed to support multiple humanoid robot configurations for industrial, office, and service applications. These include dual-arm, fully bipedal, and wheeled-biped designs tailored for different operational needs.

LimX recently demonstrated the capabilities of its Oli humanoid robots in a synchronized autonomous showcase. In the footage, 18 full-size robots independently exited shipping crates, stood up, marched in formation, and performed coordinated routines without human assistance. The Oli humanoid stands 165 cm tall and weighs 121 pounds .

It features dual robotic arms with seven degrees of freedom each, a 70 cm reach, and a payload capacity of 22 pounds , allowing it to handle common objects and perform manipulation tasks. During live demonstrations, Oli successfully reprioritized tasks in real time, autonomously completing deliveries, avoiding obstacles, navigating complex environments, and responding to changing instructions without freezing or requiring human intervention.
