Three people were rescued from Lake Erie Tuesday evening after falling into the water near Kelleys Island around 6:30 p.m.
ERIE COUNTY, Ohio - Two people were rescued and one assisted from Lake Erie Tuesday evening after falling into the water near Kelleys Island around 6:30 p.m. A Coast Guard Station Marblehead 45-foot Response Boat was immediately sent to the area and found the first two people.
A third person was unaccounted for, so the Coast Guard launched a rescue helicopter from Detroit. Coast Guard members on a nearby boat then brought that person to shore.
“We’re just glad to help and save some lives,” Petty Officer 1st Class Ashlyn Schmidt, coxswain, Station Marblehead said. “Make sure when you go on the water to wear a life jacket, it could save your life!
