Owen Wilson 's Stick season 2 should be swinging onto Apple TV sooner than later. After becoming a streaming success for the company throughout summer 2025, Apple TV quickly granted its Owen Wilson -starring and produced golf comedy series a season 2 renewal.
While the season 2 renewal coincided with Stick season 1's ending in late July 2025, updates on the story, production, and release of the next batch of episodes have been largely under wraps in the time since. In a new interview with Deadline, series creator Jason Keller was asked when Stick season 2 would air on Apple TV, and whether it would stick with another summer release window.
After Keller confirmed that Stick season 2's production quietly wrapped approximately a month and a half ago, he elaborated that Apple TV has yet to inform him of a release date for the new episodes: Jason Keller: 'We're done with production. I'm deep into post-production now. We're hoping that the show will release sooner rather than later.
' While there's no confirmation from Apple TV quite yet, Keller being deep into post-production makes a 2026 release extremely likely for Stick season 2. Though an end-of-summer premiere could be in the cards, Keller himself still not having a set air date from Apple TV suggests a fall debut may be more probable.
One issue that could be contributing to Stick rolling out later is that the hit sports TV show has new competition with Netflix's upcoming series The Hawk, a golf comedy about a controversial player starring Will Ferrell. Given the similarities between the two shows, it's possible Apple TV wants to ensure Stick season 2 can run in its entirety without sharing the golf comedy spotlight with The Hawk, which premieres all episodes on July 16.
In Wilson and Keller's interview, the duo coyly teased some new changes for Stick's main character, Pryce Cahill (Wilson), in season 2 based on the season 1 finale's cliffhanger, which saw Pryce drive a ball impressively enough to indicate his professional playing career may not be over. Without giving any specifics, Wilson and Keller confirmed that Pryce will, in fact, be playing golf in season 2, stepping beyond just his duties as Santi's (Peter Dager) coach.

In addition to Wilson returning as Pryce 'Stick' Cahill, confirmed returning cast members for Stick season 2 include Peter Dager as young golf prodigy Santi Wheeler, Marc Maron as Mitts, Mariana Treviño as Elena Wheeler, Timothy Olyphant as Clark Ross, Judy Greer as Amber-Linn, and Lilli Kay as Zero Duffy. Joining the series in season 2 will be Billy Zane, John Higgins, Rex Linn, and Missi Pyle.
Though still unclear whether Stick season 2 will drop this year, Apple TV's remaining television slate in 2026 includes the long-awaited returns of series like Ted Lasso, Sugar, Dark Matter, and Silo, as well as the premieres of highly anticipated shows like Cape Fear, Lucky, and Star City.
