The first local recruit of the Cam Turner era has put pen to paper.
Lynx big man Amelio Ambrosio became the latest addition to UAA Men’s Basketball, signing a scholarship agreement with the program at an on-campus ceremony on Tuesday.
”Thank you to Cam Turner for hosting me and having me get into the open gym and trusting me to have this opportunity. I won’t take it for granted and I’ll make sure to have lots of work ethic because, you know, journey has just begun. ” Listed at 6′4″ according to MaxPreps, the senior joins two other Dimond alumni already on the roster in Luke Johnston and“I didn’t really get to play with Luke.
Obviously, I get to play on the practice team, but not varsity in my first year. So that’s going to be something new,” he said.
“Merrick was my team captain last year, so that’s someone I want to play with again. ” Ambrosio’s signing ceremony saw many coming out to support last year’s team captain. Dimond Head Coach Krehg Perez was visibly emotional when asked to speak of what he meant to the program.
“We talk about like how you represent the program and he’s just the epitome of how you would want a program represented,” Perez said. “High academics, respectful, liked by administration, teachers, everything just speaks highly of him. It was definitely kind of like a proud dad moment.
He’s going on to the next level and his next chapter in life and you’re ready to kick him out of the nest, but you’re not ready to let him go just quite yet. ” “It’s really exciting. He’s joining two other Dimond alum guys that he’s been teammates with. It’s really cool to be over there and keep the legacy going.
” Ambrosio will officially join the roster ahead of the 2026-27 season, where it seems he’ll have plenty of fans at the Alaska Airlines Center later this fall.
“We’re going to have to be buying our season tickets and rent out a whole section. All his Dimond guys will be there cheering on the Seawolves and our Dimond alum,” Perez said.
