Cleveland Heights Mayor Kahlil Seren had promised the roundabout in July as part of a citywide traffic calming plan to try to decrease accidents, including 20 fatal in the last 15 years.
CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio - A new traffic circle or roundabout in the Noble area at a busy and sometimes dangerous intersection at Caledonia Avenue and Winsford and Dresden Roads, a neighborhood that has seen 30 accidents since 2010.
“I think it’s a good idea,” said Mikyla Washington about the roundabout in the shadow of Caledonia Elementary School. “Especially for the kids walking in the area.” The mayor wrote in a newsletter that a recent study showed that compact roundabouts led to 35% fewer total crashes and 76% fewer crashes with injuries at intersections where they were installed.
