‘s upcoming crime TV show. The Oscar-winning actor will be seen in the project, which is based on notorious mob boss James ‘Whitey’ Bulger.. The three-part TV series is based on mob boss James ‘Whitey’ Bulger.
He has been the subject of various Hollywood films. For example, Jack Nicholson’s The Departed and Johnny Depp’s Black Mass were inspired by him. Bulger was the leader of the Winter Hill Gang, an Irish mob from northwest Boston. He went underground after his former FBI handler, John Connolly, tipped him off to a pending RICO indictment.
Bulger was eventually captured in 2011. He was found guilty on 31 counts, including racketeering charges. He was given two consecutive life sentences and died in 2018 after being beaten to death in prison. Speaking of Hulu’s upcoming docuseries, it’s based on fresh reporting, including rare, never-before-seen handwritten letters from prison.
Plus, key individuals will be seen speaking on camera for the first time in order to tell the “definitive inside story of the pursuit, capture, and killing” of the mob boss. Zackary Canepari is directing Hunting Whitey Bulger. The show has Tom Forman as the executive producer alongside David Metzler. Claire Read also serves as showrunner and executive producer.
Affleck is also serving as the executive producer. The Oscar-winning actor was recently seen in Netflix’s The Rip, a crime thriller. Last year, he was featured in The Accountant 2, alongside Jon Bernthal, which will soon receive its sequel. Moving forward, Affleck will appear in another crime-based project, Netflix’s Animals, which he will also direct.
