The widows of two fallen law enforcement officers embraced Thursday as they accepted awards posthumously bestowed upon their husbands.

Cpl. Matthew"Ty" Snook"It's strange that you feel the prayers and the power of people behind you and you don't even know their names or faces," Snook said.

"Our world has completely exploded since then. But so much love. I never realized you could love an angel, and that you could love a community that just comes in and supports you," she said. The Citizens Crime Commission works to connect the public with law enforcement and strengthen communication between them.

"They have a high level of honor and standards. Really what drives them is their ability to make a difference in the safety of the citizens of the Delaware Valley," said Chairman Larry Sechuk. The ceremony included a posthumous Presidential Award for fallen Philadelphia Highway Patrolman Andy Chan. , six years after he was struck by a vehicle while riding his issued motorcycle.

"Hopefully, his spirit is here and enjoying all of this. He would really appreciate it," said his widow, Teng Chan.

"We feel so fortunate that everyone still wants to keep his memory alive and to honor him for his life's work.
