Michelle Pfeiffer has voiced her desire to redo the classic 1960s vampire soap opera Dark Shadows as a television series, hinting at potential involvement in a stalled revival project.
Michelle Pfeiffer , the Oscar-nominated actress known for her role as Catwoman in Tim Burton 's Batman Returns, has expressed a strong desire to revisit the gothic world of Dark Shadows .
In a recent interview with Variety, she named the cult classic 1960s vampire soap opera as the one TV show from history she wishes she had been a part of. While she did appear in Burton's 2012 film adaptation of Dark Shadows, she is now keen on reimagining the original serialized television series.
The original Dark Shadows aired on ABC from 1966 to 1971, centering on vampire Barnabas Collins and the macabre Collins family, and it developed a dedicated cult following. There have been previous revival attempts, including a short-lived 1991 reboot and Burton's financially successful but critically panned feature film. More recently, a planned second TV revival titled Dark Shadows: Reincarnation, developed by Mark B. Perry for The CW, was reported in 2019 but stalled by late 2020.
Perry indicated in August 2021 that the project was being reworked for potential network pickup. Pfeiffer's new comments might indirectly signal her interest in Perry's stalled version, given a connection through her Margo's Got Money Troubles co-creator David E. Kelley, who worked with Perry on Picket Fences-a show on which Pfeiffer made a cameo. The actress's affinity for dark, fantastical roles suggests she would be a compelling addition to any future Dark Shadows revival, whether on television or another medium
