Jackson Ryan Mettler, 19, faces charges of menacing and ethnic intimidation
GOLF MANOR, Ohio - A Springboro man was arrested Tuesday after using antisemitic language and threatening an individual, court records said. Jackson Ryan Mettler, 19, faces charges of menacing and ethnic intimidation after yelling “f*** the Jews” to an individual Monday in the 1800 block of Section Road in Golf Manor, near Yeshivas Lubavitch Jewish high school, according to an affidavit filed in Hamilton County Municipal Court.
Court records said Mettler also said “free Palestine,” then told the individual, “If I were you, I’d get my ass back inside,” causing the victim to go inside out of fear of harm to himself or other students. A Jewish child should be able to walk to school without being threatened for being Jewish. On Monday, a student at Yeshivas Lubavitch Cincinnati fled back into the school building, afraid for his safety. That is unacceptable in our city.
We commend the swift action of Golf Manor police and the prosecutor’s office in charging this as ethnic intimidation. Free speech is protected. Threatening a child is a crime. When threats against a Jewish child are wrapped in the language of political protest, that is antisemitism.
The criminal charge reflects that line. The Jewish Federation of Cincinnati stands with Yeshivas Lubavitch and with every Jewish family in this region. We are coordinating with our security partners and with the school. What threatens one community in Cincinnati threatens all of us.
